As digital businesses expand across borders, verifying who customers really are has become a critical part of operating securely. Financial institutions must identify genuine users, prevent fraud, meet complex regulatory requirements and maintain trust throughout customer relationships. European identity technology companies Fourthline and Veridas are combining their expertise to address these challenges, creating a unified digital identity platform backed by a funding package of up to €65 million.
The merger was completed on 3 November 2026, following its initial announcement in July. The transaction includes a €40 million growth investment from Ashgrove Capital, alongside support from existing investor Finch Capital and new equity investment from Seaya Andromeda.
Bringing Two Identity Technology Specialists Together
Founded in Amsterdam in 2017, Fourthline provides identity verification and compliance technology for financial institutions. Its platform helps businesses manage Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti Money Laundering (AML) requirements through automated identity checks and compliance workflows.
Its customers include Revolut, N26, Trade Republic, Qonto, Scalable Capital, Scalapay, Raisin, Rabobank and Bitpanda.
Veridas was also founded in 2017, initially as a joint venture with BBVA. The company has developed proprietary biometric identification, document verification, voice recognition and anti fraud technologies. It serves more than 350 clients across 25 countries, working with organisations in banking, insurance, telecommunications and public administration.
The combination brings together Fourthline’s compliance and decision making capabilities across Northern and Central Europe with Veridas’s biometric and identity technology across Southern Europe, Latin America and the United States.
One Platform for Identity and Fraud Prevention
The combined business aims to provide a single technology platform covering the entire digital identity lifecycle.
Its capabilities include document verification, facial biometrics, voice recognition, identity authentication, fraud detection and regulatory compliance. The companies plan to operate these services through an integrated AI architecture, allowing customers to manage identity related requirements across multiple markets.
The platform is also designed to help businesses respond to increasingly sophisticated fraud techniques, including deepfakes and synthetic identities.
Another priority is continuous authentication, enabling organisations to assess whether a user remains genuine beyond the initial account registration process. The companies also intend to prepare customers for reusable digital identity systems, which could simplify verification across different services.
Funding to Accelerate Growth
Ashgrove has committed €40 million in growth financing to support the combination. The wider funding package of up to €65 million also involves Finch Capital and Seaya Andromeda.
The capital will support product innovation, strategic acquisitions, debt refinancing and a shareholding reorganisation that includes partial liquidity for Veridas shareholders.
The companies expect the combination to generate approximately €20 million in annual run rate synergies. They project combined revenue of more than €50 million in 2026 and are targeting €85 million in annual recurring revenue by 2029.
Leadership and International Expansion
Fourthline CEO Paul Stoddart will lead the combined company, while Veridas CEO Eduardo Azanza will become its President. Finch Capital Managing Partner Radboud Vlaar will chair the supervisory board.
The combined business will be headquartered in Amsterdam, with offices in Stockholm, Pamplona, Barcelona, Mexico, São Paulo and Boston.
Targeting a Global Digital Identity Market
The company is positioned to serve customers across more than 50 countries and is on track to process approximately 200 million identity verifications in 2026.
For Fourthline and Veridas, the merger represents an opportunity to combine complementary technologies, customer relationships and regional expertise. As digital fraud and regulatory requirements continue to evolve, the company wants to offer financial institutions and other businesses a single partner for identity verification, compliance and fraud prevention across international markets.
