From Fake Signals to Trusted Data: Kazimi Secures €2.2M

As mobile apps increasingly depend on first party data to power advertising, analytics and artificial intelligence, one problem is becoming harder to ignore: companies cannot always tell whether the data they collect comes from genuine users or automated systems. Berlin based cybersecurity startup Kazimi is tackling that gap with technology designed to verify mobile activity while preserving user privacy.

€2.2 Million to Build Mobile Data Security

Kazimi has raised €2.2 million in an oversubscribed pre seed funding round to scale its technology and expand into the global mobile advertising market.

The round was led by Market One Capital, with participation from IBB Ventures and several experienced executives from the mobile and technology industries.

The investor group includes Petri Hyökyranta, former CTO of Rovio, Janne Peltola, a former data scientist at Supercell, and Erik Massmann, former CFO of Birkenstock Group and Sportradar.

The funding gives Kazimi resources to expand its technology as mobile companies face growing pressure to ensure that the data powering their business decisions is accurate and trustworthy.

Fighting the Rise of Automated Activity

Kazimi is developing security infrastructure that allows mobile app developers to establish whether activity inside their applications comes from genuine people or automated bots.

Bots and other forms of automated traffic can distort the information companies use to measure marketing campaigns, understand customer behaviour and train AI systems.

For app developers, inaccurate data can have a direct commercial impact. Marketing teams may end up paying for activity that does not represent genuine users, while product teams and AI systems can make decisions based on misleading signals.

Kazimi aims to address this problem by securing the communication signals generated by mobile applications and enabling developers to verify the origin of their first party data.

Protecting First Party Data

First party data has become increasingly important as companies face changes in digital advertising, privacy regulation and the growing use of AI.

Kazimi’s technology is designed to help developers establish whether signals generated inside an application are authentic without requiring them to compromise users’ personal information.

The company uses privacy preserving cryptographic proofs to verify interactions.

This approach is intended to provide developers with greater confidence in their datasets while maintaining user privacy and supporting data protection requirements.

The technology can be applied to data used for marketing analytics, advertising measurement and AI applications.

Closing the Trust Gap

Kazimi co founder and Chief Product Officer Andreas Naumann said app developers have historically lacked technical visibility into whether the signals they receive originate from real users or automated systems.

The company believes its security technology can close that gap by allowing developers to verify the authenticity of activity before relying on it for business decisions.

For mobile companies, this could mean more reliable measurement of advertising campaigns and a clearer understanding of genuine customer behaviour.

Founders With Mobile Security Experience

Kazimi’s founding team brings experience from the mobile measurement and fraud prevention industry.

The founders previously worked on security and fraud detection systems at mobile measurement company Adjust, which was acquired by AppLovin in 2021.

The team has also worked on security infrastructure for other mobile analytics companies and advertising networks, giving it experience with the challenges surrounding mobile data integrity.

Kazimi is currently targeting businesses where marketing performance and user acquisition are particularly important. Its customers include mobile gaming studios, rewards platforms and fintech applications.

Preparing for a Global Expansion

The latest funding will be used to scale Kazimi’s technology and expand its presence in the global mobile advertising market.

The company is betting that as automated activity becomes more sophisticated, simply collecting more data will no longer be enough. Businesses will increasingly need to know whether the signals within their datasets are genuine.

By combining mobile cybersecurity, cryptographic verification and privacy preserving technology, Kazimi aims to give app developers a stronger foundation for trustworthy analytics and AI while protecting the integrity of the first party data on which their businesses increasingly depend.
