Wikifarmer Raises $7.7M to Expand AI Powered Agri Marketplace

As global agriculture faces mounting pressure to become more efficient, transparent, and digitally connected, platforms that bridge gaps between producers and buyers are gaining momentum. Wikifarmer, a B2B agricultural marketplace powered by artificial intelligence, is positioning itself at the forefront of this transformation. The company has raised $7.7 million in fresh funding to expand its platform and build a more integrated system for global agricultural trade.

Funding to scale a global agri marketplace

The $7.7 million funding round was co led by Brighteye Ventures and Piraeus Bank, with participation from existing investors Point Nine Capital and Metavallon VC. This brings Wikifarmer’s total funding to approximately $18 million.

The new capital will be used to expand the company’s AI driven trading platform, grow its network of producers, and strengthen its presence in international markets. Key focus regions include Latin America and Africa, where agricultural production plays a significant role in local economies.

From knowledge platform to global marketplace

Wikifarmer originally gained recognition as a free agricultural knowledge platform, often referred to as the “Wikipedia of Farming.” The platform provides educational content for farmers and agribusinesses and has attracted more than 12 million users across 17 languages.

Building on this foundation, the company is now transitioning toward a full scale marketplace that supports the entire agricultural trade lifecycle. This evolution reflects a broader strategy to move from providing information to enabling economic activity.

Through its “from learning to earning” model, Wikifarmer allows users of its knowledge platform to participate directly in its marketplace, creating new income opportunities for farmers while expanding its supply network.

Building an operating system for agricultural trade

Wikifarmer aims to develop what it describes as an operating system for agricultural trade. Rather than focusing solely on connecting buyers and sellers, the platform integrates multiple stages of the trading process into a single environment.

These include pricing, negotiations, quality assurance, logistics, payments, and financing. By digitising these processes, the company seeks to reduce inefficiencies that have historically characterised agricultural supply chains.

The platform combines data, analytics, and transaction tools to provide a more structured and transparent approach to trade. This integrated model is designed to improve decision making and streamline operations for both producers and buyers.

AI at the core of the platform

Artificial intelligence plays a central role in Wikifarmer’s technology. The platform uses AI to analyse commodity data, seasonal trends, and market dynamics to generate price intelligence and forecasting insights.

It also supports automated matching between buyers and verified suppliers, taking into account product specifications, certifications, and other requirements. This helps reduce the time and effort needed to find suitable trading partners.

In addition, AI powered tools assist with transaction management, including handling requests for quotes, comparing offers, managing documentation, assessing credit risk, and executing trades. These capabilities are designed to simplify complex processes and improve efficiency across the supply chain.

Strategic partnership with Piraeus Bank

The involvement of Piraeus Bank represents more than a financial investment. The partnership has led to the launch of FarmClick, a digital marketplace for agricultural inputs and services in Greece.

FarmClick is designed to help farmers access essential resources, including financial products and operational tools, through a unified digital platform. This collaboration highlights Wikifarmer’s broader ambition to integrate financial services into its ecosystem.

Expanding global reach

With the new funding, Wikifarmer plans to scale its operations internationally and strengthen its producer network. Expanding into regions such as Latin America and Africa will enable the company to connect more producers to global markets and increase the diversity of its supply base.

At the same time, the company aims to enhance its platform capabilities, ensuring it can support the complexities of cross border agricultural trade.

Transforming agricultural supply chains

Agricultural trade has traditionally been characterised by fragmentation, limited transparency, and reliance on manual processes. Wikifarmer’s approach seeks to address these challenges by combining technology, data, and AI driven automation.

By creating a platform that integrates learning, trading, and financial services, the company is working to modernise how agricultural products are bought and sold globally.

With fresh funding and an expanding international presence, Wikifarmer is positioning itself as a key player in the digital transformation of agriculture, aiming to make supply chains more efficient, accessible, and value driven for all participants.
