Tork, the professional hygiene brand of Essity, expanded its PeakServe product range by introducing a new automatic, sensor-activated paper towel dispenser that is aimed at enhancing restroom hygiene and reducing maintenance time considerably in places that have a lot of visitors. Cleaning teams are supported by the technological improvements of the new Tork PeakServe Automatic device as it features longer battery performance and a larger capacity. Tork claims that the new PeakServe Automatic offers the longest battery life in its class, which can produce at least 500,000 paper towels per battery set. The batteries can last up to five years if you take into account different usage scenarios, hence the time-consuming task of replenishment is less frequent and, at the same time, continuous operation during peak demand is guaranteed. The dispenser also provides 99.99% jam-free performance and the user can get one piece of paper towel in less than one second where a sensor is located because of the hands-free activation which helps to keep the flow of the restroom and reduce the length of the queue in busy places such as airports, stadiums, shopping malls and office buildings.
According to Géza Nagy, Commercial Director for South East Europe and UA CIS at Essity Professional Hygiene, the PeakServe platform has become a reliable tool for those who need to keep the cleanliness and quality of service in the face of a large number of visitors.
“Facility managers rely on Tork PeakServe to save their facilities from running out during peak periods,” Nagy claimed. “Tork PeakServe Automatic with one battery set which may last up to five years and at least 500,000 dispensings relieves business enterprises of still more stress. Janitors can do their work more efficiently, users are sure of the device when they need it, and the restroom line keeps flowing.”
The system employs compressed towel bundles from Tork, which allow twice as many sheets to be stored than with traditional roll-based systems. That is to say, a single dispenser is capable of providing up to 600 extra guests with the necessary hygienic material before demanding a refill, and the latter may be done at any time—in contrast to some competitor systems that have to be used up entirely before recharging. Hence, cleaning teams have less need to do scheduled restroom checks and thus they get free time for conducting more thorough sanitation.
Another operational benefit that refill standardisation provides is that the whole PeakServe family uses one type of towel, thus making procurement and storage easier especially if the operators have the management of numerous buildings or large campuses.
One of the main goals in the development of the new dispenser was the reduction of both material use and energy consumption. A one-at-a-time dispensing method not only decreases towel consumption but also helps stop waste production, whereas compressed refills use less packaging, take up less space for transport and need less storage. As per Essity, carbon-reduced towel refills that will be introduced in 2025 will lower the environmental impact by about 22%, thus being in line with the sustainability goals of businesses that are looking for eco-friendly operations.
Also, the longer battery lifecycle is responsible for fewer battery replacements, hence less waste and lower environmental footprint as compared with frequently battery changed electronic dispensers.
Tork presents the PeakServe Automatic as a device that is capable of meeting the requirements of all restroom stakeholders—end users, cleaning teams and facility managers. With the hygiene standards changing very fast, especially in public places which are heavily serviced, facilities are putting more and more emphasis on touch-free technology that not only makes the experience better but also increases operational resilience.
The new dispenser will be introduced in various regions worldwide, and Essity believes that there will be a strong demand for it in those industries where the quality of restrooms is one of the main factors that shape public opinions.
