Uncovr Turns Surgical Procedures Into Structured, Searchable Clinical Records

Surgical AI startup Uncovr aims to modernise this process, and the company has now secured fresh funding to accelerate its mission.

Uncovr has raised $7 million in seed funding in a round led by Index Ventures. Additional investors include Seedcamp, Frst, No Label Ventures, Entrepreneurs First, and a group of healthcare and technology leaders, including Digital Surgery founder Jean Nehme, Color Health CEO Othman Laraki, and Meta board member Charlie Songhurst.

The investment will support product development, hospital deployments, and continued advancement of the company’s artificial intelligence models.

Addressing a Longstanding Healthcare Challenge

Founded in 2025 by Ines Iraki, Johann Diep, and Professor Eric Vibert, Uncovr focuses on improving how surgical procedures are documented and analysed.

While video recording has become increasingly common in robotic and minimally invasive surgery, clinical documentation remains largely a manual process.

After an operation is completed, surgeons typically prepare operative reports that serve as the official medical and legal record of the procedure.

These reports are critical for patient management, hospital administration, regulatory compliance, reimbursement processes, and long term clinical decision making.

However, creating them manually can be time consuming and may introduce inconsistencies or omissions.

Turning Surgical Video Into Structured Documentation

Uncovr has developed a platform that analyses surgical and endoscopic video recordings alongside intraoperative workflow data.

Using artificial intelligence, the system processes information in real time and generates structured procedural records while the surgery is still fresh.

The platform automatically creates draft operative reports and procedural coding recommendations before surgeons leave the operating room.

All outputs remain subject to review and approval before final submission, ensuring clinicians maintain control over the documentation process.

By grounding reports in actual procedural data rather than memory alone, the company aims to improve accuracy and consistency across surgical records.

According to Uncovr, more precise documentation can create benefits that extend well beyond record keeping.

Expanding Across Hospitals

Uncovr is already working with hospitals throughout the United States and Europe.

The company reports that its deployment pipeline includes more than 400 operating rooms, demonstrating strong interest from healthcare providers seeking to modernise surgical documentation processes.

Thousands of hours of surgical procedures have already been analysed through the platform.

With fresh funding secured, Uncovr plans to accelerate hospital deployments, enhance its AI capabilities, and continue developing technology that improves how surgical information is captured, documented, and utilised.
