Europe has become a fertile ground for technology startups, producing companies that are reshaping financial services, artificial intelligence and industrial technology. Yet turning a successful startup into a global market leader often requires significantly more capital than early stage investors can provide. Spanish investment firm Seaya is addressing this challenge with the launch of Seaya Nova, a new growth fund that has secured €600 million at first close in just six months, strengthening its ability to back European technology companies as they scale internationally.

€600 Million Fund Reaches First Close

Seaya Nova will focus on established technology businesses that have demonstrated product market fit, sustainable economics and the potential to compete globally. The fund plans to invest between €20 million and €50 million in each company, leading or co leading Series B to Series D funding rounds.

Its strategy targets a critical stage in the startup lifecycle, when companies need substantial financing to expand into new markets, strengthen their teams and accelerate commercial growth.

The fund is backed by the European Investment Fund under the European Tech Champions Initiative, alongside institutional investors, corporations and family offices. The initiative, developed by the European Investment Bank Group, aims to address the funding gap facing European technology companies as they move towards larger growth rounds.

A New Chapter for Seaya

Seaya Nova represents an expansion of Seaya’s existing investment strategy. Founded by Beatriz González, the firm has spent more than a decade supporting European entrepreneurs, particularly at earlier stages of company development.

González will lead the new fund alongside Vinoth Jayakumar, who joins Seaya as managing partner of Seaya Nova after more than ten years of European growth investing.

Jayakumar’s investment experience includes backing companies such as Revolut, Wise, Thought Machine and ICEYE. His appointment brings additional expertise in helping technology businesses progress from established operations towards international scale.

González described the new fund as a natural extension of Seaya’s development, allowing the firm to support ambitious companies throughout more stages of their growth.

Closing Europe’s Growth Funding Gap

European startups can often secure early stage financing but face greater challenges when they require larger investments to compete internationally. Growth capital is essential for expanding sales operations, entering new markets, developing products and acquiring customers at scale.

Seaya Nova aims to address this challenge by providing larger investments to businesses with proven commercial models rather than concentrating exclusively on young startups.

The fund’s strategy is particularly relevant as advances in artificial intelligence accelerate the pace at which companies can develop products and establish market positions. Businesses may need to invest heavily in expansion earlier to capture opportunities and compete with international rivals.

Jayakumar said Europe has demonstrated its ability to build globally competitive technology companies, but ensuring they can scale from within the region remains a central challenge.

London Office Strengthens European Presence

Alongside the fund launch, Seaya is opening a new office in London, complementing its Madrid headquarters. The expansion is intended to strengthen its connections across European technology markets and support its growth investment activities.

The London presence also reflects the importance of maintaining close relationships with founders, investors and technology businesses across multiple European markets.

Three Strategies Across the Startup Lifecycle

With Seaya Nova, the firm will operate through three complementary investment strategies.

Seaya Ventures focuses on early stage technology companies, while Seaya Andromeda invests in sustainability related opportunities. Seaya Nova will concentrate on growth stage businesses seeking larger rounds of capital to accelerate expansion.

Together, the strategies give Seaya a broader role in supporting companies from their initial funding rounds through to international growth.

What Comes Next?

The €600 million first close establishes Seaya Nova as a significant source of growth capital for European technology companies. Its next task will be identifying businesses capable of translating established market traction into global leadership.

By combining larger investments, experienced growth investors and a broader European presence, Seaya aims to help ambitious technology companies scale without relying exclusively on capital from outside the region.
