As artificial intelligence, blockchain infrastructure, and advanced data systems continue reshaping the global financial sector, venture investors are increasingly directing capital toward technologies capable of transforming how financial institutions operate. Venture capital firm Mouro Capital is positioning itself at the centre of that shift with a new investment vehicle focused on the future of financial services and enterprise infrastructure.
The firm has announced the first close of its third fund, securing $400 million from Banco Santander, its longstanding strategic partner. The latest fundraising brings Mouro Capital’s total investment commitments to more than $1 billion since the firm’s launch.
Investing in the Future of Financial Services
Mouro Capital operates as an independently managed venture capital firm specialising in financial technology and enterprise infrastructure. Since 2015, the company has invested across North America, Europe, and Latin America, typically supporting startups from seed stage through Series C financing rounds.
The firm’s investment strategy focuses on emerging technologies expected to redefine financial services over the coming decade. Key areas include artificial intelligence, blockchain infrastructure, governance and compliance technologies, advanced data infrastructure, and AI enabled enterprise systems.
For its latest fund, Mouro Capital plans to deepen its focus across sectors including capital markets, wealth management, insurtech, and governance, risk, and compliance technologies, all areas undergoing rapid transformation as AI adoption accelerates across the financial industry.
AI and Infrastructure at the Core
According to Manuel Silva Martínez, the firm sees significant opportunities emerging at the intersection of AI, data infrastructure, and financial services.
He said Mouro Capital’s broader strategy centres on backing founders building the next generation of global financial infrastructure through technologies capable of modernising how financial institutions manage operations, compliance, customer experiences, and decision making.
Silva Martínez noted that areas such as capital markets and wealth management are increasingly being reshaped by AI driven automation and data intelligence, while blockchain technologies continue opening new possibilities across financial infrastructure and operational transparency.
He also highlighted insurtech as a particularly underserved segment where Mouro Capital intends to increase investment activity moving forward.
Early Investments Already Underway
Even before completing the broader fundraising process, Mouro Capital has already begun deploying capital through the new fund. The firm says seven investments have already been completed, reflecting its strategy of identifying companies positioned to benefit from AI driven transformation across financial services and enterprise technology.
Among the companies backed through the new vehicle are ElevenLabs and Sakana AI, both of which operate within rapidly growing areas of AI infrastructure and generative AI development.
These investments signal the firm’s broader focus on foundational AI technologies that could influence enterprise operations far beyond traditional fintech applications alone.
Expanding a Global Investment Platform
Mouro Capital says the new fund will continue supporting founders across both fintech and enterprise infrastructure sectors while also reserving capital for follow on investments into existing portfolio companies.
The firm has built its investment platform around international markets, targeting startups operating across Europe, North America, and Latin America as financial services increasingly become more digitised and globally interconnected.
Venture Capital’s Growing Focus on AI Finance
The fundraising reflects a broader trend across venture capital markets where investors are increasingly concentrating on AI infrastructure, enterprise automation, and next generation financial systems. As traditional financial institutions face pressure to modernise operations, comply with evolving regulations, and integrate AI technologies safely, demand for specialised infrastructure startups continues growing.
By combining a long standing focus on fintech with expanding interest in AI driven enterprise systems, Mouro Capital is positioning its latest fund to capture opportunities emerging from the convergence of finance, artificial intelligence, and modern digital infrastructure.
