Antwerp based social impact startup Maurice & Nora has secured €1 million in funding to accelerate the expansion of its non medical in home assistance platform. The company is combining technology and human connection to address growing demand for flexible support services for seniors and families across Belgium.

Investors Back Social Impact Vision

The funding round attracted support from a wide network of investors and entrepreneurs, including Conny Vandendriessche through Coformaco, alongside Dries Buytaert, 100IN, Annemie Colruyt, Stef Goossens, Lorenz Bogaert, and the Shaping Impact Si3 Fund.

The backing reflects growing interest in technology platforms that combine scalable business models with measurable social impact.

Connecting Students with Families and Seniors

Founded to address increasing demand for accessible support services, Maurice & Nora connects students with seniors and families needing non medical assistance for daily tasks.

For seniors, the platform offers help with grocery shopping, companionship, transportation, light housekeeping, and yard work. Families can also access services including childcare, after school support, cooking assistance, and school holiday care.

The company’s approach is designed to provide flexible and affordable support while also creating meaningful work opportunities for students.

AI Powered Matching Platform

At the centre of the company’s operations is a proprietary digital platform that uses artificial intelligence to match users with suitable student helpers more efficiently.

The platform has evolved into a fully operational system featuring screening processes, matching algorithms, mobile applications, and communication tools. Maurice & Nora has also introduced an AI voice agent that supports scheduling and customer interactions, helping automate parts of the service while improving scalability.

This combination of digital infrastructure and human support is intended to simplify access to care and assistance without removing the personal element.

Rapid Early Growth

Since launching one year ago, Maurice & Nora has screened more than 3,000 students across Flanders and Brussels and onboarded over 2,000 families and seniors.

The company has also secured more than 10 business to business clients that offer the platform as an employee benefit. This dual business model allows Maurice & Nora to serve both private users and employers seeking additional support services for their workforce.

The early traction highlights rising demand for flexible assistance solutions as demographic and work patterns continue to evolve.

Balancing Technology and Human Connection

According to co founder and CEO Thomas Butstraen, the company’s ambition is to make non medical assistance as easy to access as ordering food delivery or booking a taxi online while maintaining a strong human element.

The platform’s focus on companionship and local engagement differentiates it from purely transactional service marketplaces.

By connecting students with communities in need, Maurice & Nora also aims to create socially meaningful employment opportunities while supporting financial independence for younger people.

Expanding Across Europe

The newly raised capital will be used to support commercial growth through increased investment in sales, marketing, and partnerships. The company also plans to strengthen its team and continue developing its technology platform, including AI based matching systems, voice functionality, and enterprise scale capabilities.

Looking ahead, Maurice & Nora plans to expand operations beyond Belgium into additional European markets as it scales its model.
