US AI software company Replit has opened its first international office in London, establishing the UK capital as its European hub as the company looks to accelerate global growth and expand adoption of AI powered software creation.
The San Francisco based company currently has around 20 employees in London and plans to potentially increase that number to as many as 100 by early next year, depending on how quickly demand for its AI products develops. The new team includes employees across sales, customer support and engineering, giving Replit a base from which to serve customers across European markets.
London Becomes European Hub
The new office was officially opened with London Mayor Sadiq Khan joining Replit co founder and CEO Amjad Masad for the launch. Replit said the office represents its first physical presence outside the United States and reflects growing demand from individuals, small businesses and enterprises for its AI based software creation platform.
The company has chosen London as the centre of its European operations as the city continues to attract major US technology and AI companies. Replit sees the capital’s combination of technology, financial services, creative industries and a diverse talent pool as an important advantage for its next phase of growth.
Masad also highlighted London’s cultural diversity compared with the more technology focused environment of Silicon Valley. He argued that bringing together people from different professional and creative backgrounds can generate broader ideas and new approaches to technology.
Building Software With AI
Founded in 2016, Replit has built its business around making software development accessible to a much wider audience. Its platform allows users to create applications using natural language, reducing the need for traditional programming skills.
The company has become closely associated with the rise of vibe coding, where users describe what they want to build and AI generates and modifies the underlying software. Replit has expanded this approach through its AI agents, which can help users move from an idea to a working and deployable application.
Replit’s latest products are aimed not only at professional developers but also at product managers, designers, founders, students, small businesses and employees working in areas such as sales, marketing, finance and operations.
More Than 60 Million Users
Replit says more than 60 million people use its platform worldwide, with users at 85% of Fortune 500 companies. Its enterprise customer base includes major organisations using Replit to build internal applications and automate workflows.
The company’s recent growth has been supported by a significant increase in investment. In March 2026, Replit announced a $400 million funding round at a $9 billion valuation. The company said the funding would support global expansion, particularly across Europe, Asia and the Middle East, as well as product development and infrastructure.
A Push for Open AI
Masad also used the London launch to outline his broader view of how the AI industry should develop. He argued that the market should avoid becoming dominated by only a small number of companies and called for more accessible and open AI technology.
Replit’s strategy is focused on making AI software creation available to a much larger group of people rather than limiting advanced development tools to professional programmers.
The company has also recently expanded its product capabilities, including Agent 4, which is designed to help users build production ready applications through a more visual and collaborative workflow.
London at the Centre of Expansion
Replit plans to use London as a base for its European operations while continuing its international expansion. The company has also indicated plans to establish offices in Tokyo and New York.
For London, the arrival of Replit adds another major US AI company to an increasingly concentrated technology ecosystem. For Replit, the new office represents a significant step in turning its growing European user base into a larger regional business.
With up to 100 London jobs potentially planned within months, the company is betting that Europe’s demand for AI powered software creation is only beginning to accelerate.
