Polysense Raises $10.7 Million to Revolutionise Food Production Quality Control

Food manufacturers around the world are under growing pressure to improve efficiency while reducing waste, controlling production costs, and maintaining consistently high product quality. Yet many production facilities still rely on periodic sampling and manual inspections, making it difficult to detect quality issues before large volumes of products are affected. As food producers increasingly embrace digital manufacturing, artificial intelligence is emerging as a powerful tool for monitoring production lines in real time and preventing waste before it occurs. Belgian startup Polysense is building technology to address this challenge, and the company has now secured fresh funding to accelerate the global expansion of its AI powered quality control platform.

Polysense has raised $10.7 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round led by Felix Capital, with participation from Fortino Ventures, Syndicate One, 100IN, and a group of angel investors.

The investment will support product development, international expansion, engineering growth, and broader deployment of the company’s intelligent manufacturing platform.

Bringing Artificial Intelligence to Food Production

Polysense develops software that combines artificial intelligence with automated process optimisation for food manufacturers.

Its platform continuously monitors production lines, identifies quality deviations as they occur, and automatically adjusts manufacturing settings before defective products are produced.

Instead of relying solely on manual inspections or periodic quality checks, manufacturers receive continuous monitoring throughout the production process.

The company believes this approach enables faster intervention while significantly reducing waste and improving production consistency.

A Fully Integrated Quality Control Platform

The Polysense platform consists of three connected products designed to work together throughout the manufacturing process.

Polysense Qualify performs continuous inspection of every product moving along the production line using real time imaging technology.

The Polysense Platform combines quality information with operational production data to provide manufacturers with a comprehensive view of process performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Polysense AutoControl completes the system by automatically adjusting machine settings to compensate for changing ingredients and production conditions.

Together, these capabilities create an intelligent production environment capable of responding immediately to quality variations.

Helping Manufacturers Reduce Food Waste

Food waste remains one of the industry’s largest operational challenges.

Natural variation in ingredients such as moisture content, density, and other product characteristics often causes quality fluctuations that conventional production systems struggle to manage.

Polysense addresses this issue by combining real time imaging, synthetic data models, and automated machine control to detect deviations before they result in wasted products.

By correcting production parameters immediately, manufacturers can improve efficiency while reducing material losses and maintaining more consistent product quality.

Growing Commercial Adoption

The company has experienced rapid commercial growth since focusing exclusively on food manufacturing.

Over the past year, Polysense has progressed from initial pilot projects to large scale commercial deployments with major food manufacturers, including Agristo, Darta, and Poppies Bakeries.

Initially launched across European production facilities, the platform has also expanded into the United States and the Middle East.

Its technology is now being deployed across vegetable, potato, bakery, confectionery, and packaging production lines, demonstrating its flexibility across different food manufacturing environments.

Accelerating International Expansion

The newly secured funding will enable Polysense to extend its technology across additional stages of food production while automating a broader range of quality control and process optimisation tasks.

The company also plans to expand its engineering, sales, and customer success teams while investing in faster customer deployments to support growing international demand.

As manufacturers continue modernising production through automation and artificial intelligence, real time quality management is becoming an increasingly important competitive advantage. By combining continuous inspection, intelligent analytics, and automated process control within a unified platform, Polysense aims to help food manufacturers improve efficiency, reduce waste, and build smarter, more sustainable production systems around the world.
