Even though it is one of the largest and most vital industries globally, freight forwarding still depends largely on manual operations, paper documents, and long email chains, and in some instances, fax machines. As a result, companies moving goods across borders often face slow quotation processes, poor shipment visibility, and inefficiencies that clash with today’s digital-first economy.
MyDello’s Mission to Digitise Freight
Estonian startup MyDello was created to change this outdated reality. To accelerate its mission of turning freight forwarding into a digital and automated service, the company has raised €3.1 million in fresh funding. The round was led by Iceland-based Frumtak Ventures, with participation from returning investor Superhero Capital from Finland.
Founded in 2021, MyDello has developed a digital freight forwarding platform that provides instant, door-to-door shipping quotes across all major transport modes, including air, sea, rail, and road. The platform supports shipments of any size or complexity, offering businesses immediate clarity on pricing, routing, and delivery timelines.
Funding to Fuel Expansion and Automation
The newly raised capital will be used to expand MyDello’s international footprint, beginning with its entry into the UK market. In parallel, the company plans to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence across its platform, with the goal of automating most shipment operations by the end of next year.
Founders Driving Industry Change
Joel Timm, CEO and co-founder of MyDello, brings years of hands-on logistics experience to the venture. His familiarity with the industry’s inefficiencies played a key role in shaping the company’s vision.
“We are very enthusiastic about logistics. My co-founders and I have seen both the strengths and weaknesses of the industry,” said Timm. “When we launched MyDello in 2021, we knew freight forwarding could work much better. In just a few years, we have facilitated thousands of shipments, built a strong customer base, and partnered with hundreds of carriers and industry peers.”
A Platform Connected to Global Carriers
MyDello’s platform integrates directly with more than 400 global carriers, including DHL, Maersk, Lufthansa, Finnair, and Qatar Airways. Within seconds, users can compare multiple shipping options with live pricing, estimated transit times, and routing details. Once a shipment is booked, real-time tracking and automated status updates provide visibility from pickup to final delivery.
An All-in-One Solution for Global Trade
While many digital freight startups focus on a single transport mode or region, MyDello positions itself as a fully automated, all-in-one platform. It supports all freight modes and shipment sizes and is designed to manage the complexity of international trade routes connecting Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Compared to competitors such as Flexport, Sennder, and Freightos, MyDello emphasizes end-to-end automation and usability. Its system integrates quoting, booking, documentation, and customs handling into a single interface tailored for business users rather than logistics experts.
Growth Strategy and Investor Confidence
Currently, MyDello serves 12,500 businesses across 110 countries and operates in 12 European markets as well as China. Following this investment, the company plans to expand into every European country by 2027 and strengthen its presence along key Europe-Asia trade corridors.
Frumtak Ventures general partner Andri Heiðar Kristinsson highlighted the opportunity ahead, noting that MyDello is well positioned to bring freight forwarding into the AI era. As global trade volumes rise and supply chains demand greater speed and transparency, MyDello is betting that fully digital freight forwarding will soon become a necessity rather than an option.
