From Solar Data to AI Decisions, Metris Builds a New Energy Layer

As renewable power portfolios become larger and more complex, energy companies are dealing with a growing problem that has little to do with generating electricity and everything to do with managing the data behind it. UK energy technology company Metris Energy is addressing that challenge with an AI native platform designed to bring technical, financial and operational information into one system. The company has raised $5 million in seed funding to expand its technology and take its platform deeper into the European energy market.

New funding round

The seed round was led by PT1 Ventures, Octopus Ventures, AENU and Blackfinch Ventures, with participation from Plug and Play and Love Ventures. The latest investment brings Metris Energy’s total funding to $7.5 million.

Metris was launched in 2025 with an initial focus on helping solar portfolio operators reconcile information scattered across inverters, meters, SCADA systems, spreadsheets, customer relationship management systems and finance platforms. The company has since broadened its ambitions, describing its product as an AI native operating system for renewable energy owners and operators.

Creating one energy data layer

Renewable energy operators increasingly manage portfolios made up of assets from different manufacturers, locations and technology systems. Data can be distributed across operational technology, contracts, financial platforms, market systems and maintenance tools.

Metris aims to create a unified data layer that brings these sources together. Its platform integrates energy, contract, finance, market and operational data, giving asset managers a continuously updated view of their portfolios.

The system is designed to work across different equipment providers. Metris says it integrates more than 50 original equipment manufacturers, including meters, pyranometers and inverters, while automatically pulling and reconciling data into a standardised feed.

From data to decisions

The company’s platform goes beyond storing information. Metris provides real time performance monitoring that can identify underperformance, contractual breaches and other operational issues.

Its software can also connect technical performance with commercial outcomes. Revenue operations tools support different revenue streams, including power purchase agreements, feed in tariffs, battery energy storage systems and renewable energy certificates. The platform can calculate, generate and reconcile invoices while connecting with accounting and payment systems.

This approach is aimed at reducing the manual work involved in managing large renewable portfolios, where teams may otherwise spend significant time transferring information between spreadsheets and separate software systems.

Introducing Metria AI

Alongside the funding announcement, Metris has introduced Metria AI, an interface designed to allow energy teams to interact with portfolio data using natural language.

Users can ask questions about asset performance, faults, contracts and operational tasks without navigating multiple dashboards. Metria AI can also contextualise faults using performance information, operating procedures, equipment manuals and historical maintenance tickets.

The platform can generate reports by bringing together performance data, maintenance tickets and asset history, allowing teams to move from manually assembling information toward reviewing AI generated summaries.

Expanding beyond solar

Metris says its technology currently supports more than 8,500 projects, according to its official website, while the company is expanding its capabilities across the wider renewable energy sector.

The new funding will support further development of the platform’s agentic capabilities and expansion into additional energy technologies, including wind and combined heat and power systems.

Germany is also a priority market for the company, with Metris planning to increase its presence there alongside wider European expansion.

The company’s broader ambition is to create an intelligent system of record for physical energy assets, giving operators a single place to understand performance, manage operations, handle revenue and deploy AI driven workflows as renewable portfolios continue to scale.
