For many people, the biggest barrier to enjoying a concert, festival or sporting event is no longer interest but affordability. Sheffield based startup Tickets for Good is looking to change that equation after raising €4.5 million, or £3.9 million, in fresh funding to expand internationally, strengthen its technology and create new jobs in its home city over the next three years.
The latest investment comes as the company seeks to build on its growing role in connecting people who often struggle to access live entertainment with spare and discounted tickets from event organisers.
Fresh Funding for International Growth
The funding was secured from NPIF II, Mercia Equity Finance, managed by Mercia Ventures as part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II, alongside Shaping Impact Group, Finance Yorkshire, Leansquare and private investors.
Tickets for Good plans to use the capital to accelerate its international expansion while continuing to develop its platform and operations in the UK. The company also expects the investment to support the creation of 10 new jobs in Sheffield over the next three years.
Founded in 2022, Tickets for Good has developed a platform that connects eligible members with free or heavily discounted tickets to concerts, festivals, theatre productions, sporting events, comedy shows and other live experiences. The company is headquartered at Workstation in Sheffield.
Turning Spare Tickets Into Social Impact
The business operates around a simple model. Event organisers, venues, promoters and other partners provide spare tickets that could otherwise remain unused. Tickets for Good then makes those tickets available to verified members.
Its community includes NHS workers, education staff, charity employees and volunteers, as well as people who face financial or other barriers to attending live events. Members can register for free, complete an eligibility verification process and access available tickets by paying a small booking fee where applicable.
The model is designed to benefit both sides of the live entertainment industry. For audiences, it reduces the cost of attending events. For organisers and venues, it helps fill unused capacity while potentially bringing new audiences into venues and generating additional spending on food, drinks and merchandise.
More Than One Million Tickets Distributed
Tickets for Good says its platform has already created a significant social impact. Its website currently reports more than 650,000 members globally, over 1,200 event partners and more than one million tickets distributed.
The company has also worked with major artists, festivals, venues and sporting organisations. Robbie Williams is among its high profile supporters, while the platform has featured events ranging from music festivals and arena concerts to theatre, comedy and sport.
The company began from a pilot project in Sheffield that connected members of the Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind with tickets to Tramlines Festival. It has since expanded beyond the UK into the US and Europe.
Expanding Across International Markets
Tickets for Good entered the US market in 2023 after being accepted into the Comcast SportsTech accelerator in St Louis. It now has operations across several European markets, including the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
The new funding is expected to help the company deepen its international footprint while increasing the number of event partners and members using the platform.
The expansion comes as the live entertainment sector continues to search for ways to improve attendance, build stronger audience relationships and make events more accessible.
Building a Bigger Live Events Community
For Tickets for Good, the next phase is about scaling a model that combines commercial growth with a clear social purpose. Its platform gives event partners a way to put spare capacity to work while providing members with opportunities they may otherwise be unable to afford.
With fresh capital behind it, the Sheffield startup is now aiming to take that model to more markets, reach more people and strengthen its position as an international platform for affordable live entertainment.
