Dcycle Strengthens ESG Data Platform Through Strategic ESG X Deal

As sustainability regulation moves from policy ambition to operational reality, European companies are increasingly under pressure to manage, audit, and report ESG data with the same rigour as financial information. In response to this shift, sustainability data management platform Dcycle has acquired ESG X, an AI focused ESG reporting software provider, in a move that strengthens Dcycle’s product capabilities and accelerates its expansion across Europe.

The acquisition reflects growing consolidation within the ESG software market, where fragmented point solutions are giving way to integrated platforms capable of supporting end to end sustainability data management.

Rising regulatory pressure reshapes ESG software demand

The transaction comes at a time of heightened regulatory complexity. Across the European Union, companies are beginning to publish CSRD aligned disclosures, while UK businesses prepare for upcoming Sustainability Reporting Standards. At the same time, audit and assurance requirements are increasing scrutiny on data quality, traceability, and governance.

These developments are changing how organisations approach sustainability reporting. Rather than relying on standalone tools focused on compliance outputs, companies are seeking unified infrastructure that connects raw operational data to reporting frameworks in a consistent and auditable way.

Dcycle positions itself within this shift, focusing on sustainability data as a core business asset rather than a reporting afterthought.

ESG X brings AI driven reporting and local data infrastructure

ESG X has built proprietary AI models that automate key elements of sustainability reporting, including materiality assessments and the mapping of existing corporate data to ESG requirements. Its software is designed to reduce the manual effort involved in translating operational data into structured ESG disclosures.

A defining feature of ESG X is its infrastructure setup. The platform is hosted in certified German data centres, addressing strict data residency expectations among enterprises in the DACH region. This capability becomes increasingly important as sustainability data grows more sensitive and subject to regulatory oversight.

Through the acquisition, Dcycle integrates ESG X’s technology directly into its broader sustainability data platform.

Strengthening product capabilities across reporting and analytics

The combined platform enhances Dcycle’s offering across multiple areas. These include image recognition tools for fuel and energy consumption, AI based double materiality assessments aligned with CSRD requirements, EcoVadis rating optimisation for industrial mid market companies, and automated ESRS reporting using technology compliant with the European AI Act.

Local data residency capabilities also expand Dcycle’s appeal to enterprises operating under strict governance and compliance frameworks.

Together, these features aim to help organisations move beyond basic compliance toward continuous sustainability performance management, with higher data accuracy and lower operational friction.

Supporting growth in the DACH market

All three ESG X co founders, Paolo Mazza, Valentin Aman, and Jean Bauer, will join Dcycle as part of the acquisition. Their expertise and regional market knowledge are expected to support Dcycle’s expansion across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Mazza noted that joining Dcycle allows ESG X’s technology to reach a wider market by becoming part of a platform with greater scale and operational maturity, enabling more advanced ESG data management across Europe.

A consolidation moment for ESG platforms

Juanjo Mestre, CEO and co founder of Dcycle, described the acquisition as part of a broader consolidation phase in the European ESG software market. As sustainability reporting requirements increase in scope and complexity, Mestre believes companies need integrated platforms that offer full control over data, rather than disconnected tools that solve only isolated problems.

With ESG X now part of its platform, Dcycle aims to position itself as a foundational sustainability data layer for European organisations navigating an increasingly regulated ESG landscape.
