As Alzheimer’s research increasingly moves beyond single target approaches, Swiss biotech startup PANDA Therapeutics is pursuing a broader strategy aimed at tackling several harmful protein deposits associated with the disease at the same time. The company has secured €160,000, equivalent to CHF 150,000, from Venture Kick to turn its antibody based treatment concept into a more advanced drug development programme and prepare for future clinical development.
The funding provides PANDA with capital to establish its corporate and operational foundation while strengthening the scientific, manufacturing and regulatory groundwork required to advance its lead programme.
Taking Aim at Multiple Proteins
Alzheimer’s disease is characterised by the progressive loss of memory and cognitive function and is associated with the accumulation of abnormal proteins in the brain. Among the best known are amyloid beta and tau, both of which have been investigated extensively as potential therapeutic targets.
Many existing antibody based approaches have primarily focused on amyloid beta. While these treatments have demonstrated that targeting disease associated proteins can influence aspects of Alzheimer’s pathology, their overall clinical benefits have remained limited.
PANDA Therapeutics is developing an alternative strategy designed to address multiple harmful protein deposits through a single therapy. The company describes its approach as a first in class antibody based treatment intended to target several pathological deposits simultaneously.
A Broader Treatment Strategy
The startup’s therapy is designed with two objectives. First, it aims to prevent harmful protein deposits from spreading through the brain. Second, it is intended to help the body’s natural mechanisms clear these deposits.
By combining these functions in one treatment, PANDA Therapeutics hopes to develop a broader approach to slowing the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.
The strategy reflects the growing recognition that neurodegenerative diseases can involve several interconnected biological processes rather than being driven by a single pathological factor.
From Research to Drug Development
PANDA Therapeutics was founded by CEO Hui Zhang, who brings extensive experience in neuroscience drug discovery. The company is now focused on building the scientific and operational infrastructure needed to move its lead programme toward clinical development.
The Venture Kick funding will support company formation and business development while helping the startup establish a high level scientific and clinical advisory board.
Another major focus will be preparing a robust chemistry, manufacturing and controls strategy, commonly known as CMC. Establishing manufacturing readiness at an early stage is important for biotech companies preparing experimental therapies for eventual clinical testing.
The funding will also contribute to intellectual property and regulatory planning, investor engagement and discussions with pharmaceutical companies.
Targeting Pharma Partnerships
Rather than building a large commercial organisation itself at this stage, PANDA Therapeutics expects global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with neuroscience and biologics expertise to become important strategic partners.
Potential collaboration models include licensing, co development and eventual commercialisation agreements. Such partnerships could provide access to the development, manufacturing and clinical capabilities required to advance the therapy through later stages.
PANDA is therefore positioning itself to reach future financing and partnering milestones while continuing to build evidence around its therapeutic approach.

Hui Zhang said Venture Kick has helped the company move from a scientific concept toward a clearer development and commercialisation strategy, while providing entrepreneurial guidance, industry connections and feedback on its business model and market potential.
The €160,000 investment represents an early step in PANDA Therapeutics’ development, but the company is aiming at a major challenge in neuroscience: developing treatments capable of addressing the complex biology behind Alzheimer’s progression.
If its multi target antibody approach demonstrates sufficient efficacy and safety in future development, PANDA hopes it could offer a more comprehensive strategy for slowing the disease than therapies focused on a single pathological protein.
