As companies adopt immersive technologies to train employees and explain complex products, one challenge continues to slow wider adoption: creating realistic, interactive training experiences can be expensive, complicated and time consuming. German startup VUSE XR is addressing this problem by helping businesses turn existing technical information into reusable mixed reality content. The company has raised €1.2 million in pre seed funding to enhance its software platform, expand artificial intelligence capabilities and accelerate commercial growth.
IACD Leads the Funding Round
Based in Freiburg, Germany, VUSE XR secured the investment in a funding round led by IACD, a Düsseldorf based business angel network, with participation from additional angel investors.
Founded in November 2023 by Niclas Matthias and Dr Paul Matthias, the company develops the VUSE XR Hub, an enterprise software platform that enables industrial and life sciences organisations to create, manage and deploy interactive mixed reality training experiences.
The fresh capital will support further development of the platform, improvements to its AI assisted content creation tools and expansion of its commercial operations. The company is also strengthening its leadership team to support its next phase of growth.
Making Mixed Reality Training More Accessible
Mixed reality combines digital content with elements of the physical world, allowing users to interact with virtual objects in realistic environments. For businesses, the technology can help employees understand complicated machinery, practise procedures and learn how products operate without always needing access to physical equipment.
However, traditional mixed reality training often depends on customised projects, with individual experiences developed separately. This can increase production costs, extend development timelines and make it difficult to update training across different products, facilities and markets.
VUSE XR aims to replace this project based approach with a standardised software platform. Its goal is to allow companies to develop and maintain training experiences internally rather than relying entirely on external specialists.
Turning Technical Data Into Interactive Experiences
The VUSE XR Hub uses existing computer aided design models, engineering data and product documentation to generate photorealistic three dimensional models. Users can then transform these assets into interactive training experiences using AI assisted tools, text prompts and drag and drop functionality.
Companies can add explanations, instructions and practical tasks to guide employees through complex products or processes. Once created, the training content can be deployed across different locations and accessed through web browsers, mobile devices and extended reality headsets.
This flexibility allows businesses to reuse training materials and update them as products, procedures or operational requirements change. It can also reduce the need to transport machinery or specialised equipment to every training location.
According to co founder and chief executive Niclas Matthias, the rapid development of mixed reality hardware has not been matched by equally accessible tools for producing training content. He believes the VUSE XR Hub can help remove this obstacle and make immersive technology more practical for enterprise customers.
Established Customers Across Multiple Industries
VUSE XR already works with organisations including ZEISS, WITRON, Hologic and Badenova. These customers use the platform to communicate complex products and processes and deliver practical training without requiring physical equipment at the training site.
Its potential applications span medical and laboratory technologies, energy, mobility and industrial operations. The company follows a recurring software licensing model and provides onboarding assistance to help customers implement their initial training applications.
Strengthening Leadership and Future Growth
Alongside the funding announcement, VUSE XR appointed Jan Hendrik Degner as Chief Commercial Officer and Robert Günther as Vice President of Sales and Service Delivery.
The appointments are intended to strengthen sales, customer relationships and service delivery as the company expands its market presence.
With the new investment, VUSE XR plans to enhance its AI assisted creation capabilities and help more businesses develop immersive training without the cost and complexity of building every experience from scratch. Its longer term opportunity lies in making mixed reality content easier to create, update and distribute, bringing immersive training closer to everyday business operations.
