Nous Secures $17M to Turn AI Into a Personal Manager for Everyday Life

Managing household finances often involves more than paying bills. From comparing service providers and cancelling unwanted subscriptions to navigating insurance policies and remembering renewal deadlines, everyday administration can consume hours of valuable time. UK based startup Nous is looking to change that with an artificial intelligence agent designed to handle these responsibilities on behalf of households. The company has raised $17 million in new funding to expand its services, introduce additional features and take its technology into international markets.

New Funding to Accelerate Growth

Nous secured the investment from Heartcore Capital and existing seed investor Mosaic Ventures, with participation from Chalfen Ventures, Joyance Partners and Bain Future Back Ventures. Several angel investors also participated, including entrepreneurs associated with Monzo, GoCardless, Founders Factory, Faculty.ai and Onfido.

The funding will support the company’s expansion into additional household spending categories, the development of new administrative capabilities and the introduction of more regulated financial services. International expansion is another priority as Nous looks to bring its AI powered household management model to more consumers.

An AI Agent for Everyday Administration

Founded by Greg Marsh, the entrepreneur behind luxury accommodation marketplace onefinestay, Nous is developing an AI agent that helps households manage recurring expenses and administrative responsibilities.

The platform is designed to go beyond offering suggestions. It can identify cheaper deals, switch service providers, cancel subscriptions, complete forms and highlight unfavourable contract terms or expensive renewal offers. These capabilities aim to help users save money while reducing the effort required to manage multiple household accounts.

Nous also focuses on the organisational side of everyday life. Its agent can help manage family calendars, send deadline reminders, locate local tradespeople and arrange appointments.

By bringing financial administration and household organisation together, the company aims to create a single service that can manage routine tasks that would otherwise require repeated manual intervention.

Building Trust Into Financial Decisions

Allowing an AI system to make decisions involving money requires a different level of reliability from using a chatbot to answer general questions. Nous says it has spent 18 months developing and refining its agent, with a strong emphasis on safety, privacy and dependable execution.

Its technology combines large language models with rules based logic for specific and sensitive actions, particularly those involving financial decisions. This approach is intended to give the system flexibility when interpreting everyday requests while maintaining greater control over important transactions.

Founder and CEO Greg Marsh has emphasised that households must be able to trust an AI agent before allowing it to make purchasing and financial decisions on their behalf.

The company is also registered with the Financial Conduct Authority, enabling it to support regulated activities such as purchasing insurance within applicable regulatory requirements.

A Different Approach to Consumer AI

Nous is positioning its service around household interests rather than advertising revenue. The company states that it does not make money by selling customer data or displaying advertisements, an approach intended to reduce conflicts of interest when recommending financial products or service providers.

This positioning could become important as AI agents increasingly influence how consumers compare offers, select suppliers and manage their spending. Users need confidence that recommendations are designed to benefit them rather than prioritise a commercial partner.

For Nous, maintaining that confidence will be essential as the platform takes on more complex financial and administrative responsibilities.

Expanding Beyond the UK

With its new funding, Nous plans to introduce additional household management features and expand into more spending categories, including a broader range of insurance and financial services. The company also intends to extend its operations into international markets.

The opportunity extends beyond automating individual tasks. By combining cost saving tools, financial administration and household organisation, Nous is seeking to make AI a practical part of everyday consumer life.

Its next challenge will be scaling the service while maintaining the security, reliability and transparency required for sensitive decisions. If successful, Nous could help establish a new category of consumer AI agents that do not simply advise households but actively manage routine responsibilities on their behalf.
