ParkMundo Raises €2.3 Million After a Decade of Bootstrapped Growth

Airport parking has long been a fragmented part of the travel industry, with travellers often navigating separate websites, local operators and booking systems to secure a space before departure. Dutch travel technology company ParkMundo is looking to simplify that process. The company has raised €2.3 million in seed funding to expand its airport parking marketplace, strengthen its technology and scale a business distribution platform that allows travel brands to offer parking directly to their customers.

The funding represents ParkMundo’s first external investment after more than a decade of bootstrapped growth. The round was backed by angel investors with experience in technology and travel, alongside additional financing from Rabobank. The investment follows a period of development that included rebuilding the company’s technology infrastructure, refreshing its brand and expanding its business to business distribution capabilities.

From Comparison Website to Travel Technology Platform

Founded in 2013 by Jeroen van den Eerenbeemt under the name Vliegen en Parkeren, the company initially focused on helping travellers compare airport parking options. Martijn Meeuws joined shortly after its launch and is now the company’s co-founder and chief executive officer.

Over the years, the business has evolved beyond a consumer comparison website into an international platform connecting travellers with parking providers. According to the company, ParkMundo has remained self-funded and profitable before raising its first external capital.

Today, it operates across four continents and has facilitated millions of airport parking bookings through a network of more than 850 partners in 15 countries. Its model brings together parking operators and customers through a digital marketplace, making it easier to discover and book available parking options.

Addressing a Fragmented Market

Airport parking is often managed by local operators using different booking systems, pricing structures and customer interfaces. This fragmentation can make it difficult for travellers to compare choices and complete bookings as smoothly as they book flights or hotels.

ParkMundo aims to connect these separate providers through a centralised platform. Travellers can use its consumer marketplace to find parking options, while parking businesses gain access to customers through an established digital distribution channel.

The company’s wider ambition is to make airport parking a more integrated part of the travel booking experience, rather than a separate task that passengers must organise independently.

Helping Airlines and Travel Brands Sell Parking

A major part of ParkMundo’s growth strategy is its business-to-business distribution platform. Through application programming interfaces, commonly known as APIs, and other partner integrations, the company enables airlines, online travel agencies and travel brands to offer airport parking within their own booking journeys.

This approach allows customers to arrange parking alongside other travel services, potentially reducing the need to visit multiple websites. For partner businesses, it creates an opportunity to offer an additional service and generate revenue beyond their core travel products.

ParkMundo also applies artificial intelligence to parking price optimisation. Drawing on experience from its consumer booking operations, the company uses technology to help partners improve parking sales and manage pricing more effectively.

Funding the Next Phase of Growth

Co-founder and CEO Martijn Meeuws believes airport parking remains one of the travel industry’s less integrated services. He has outlined the company’s ambition to build global infrastructure connecting parking operators with travellers wherever they book their trips.

The €2.3 million funding will support further technology development, international expansion and growth across both the consumer marketplace and the B2B distribution platform. ParkMundo also plans to build additional partnerships with travel providers to extend the reach of its services.

Building a Connected Travel Experience

ParkMundo’s funding marks a new phase for a company that grew without external investment for more than ten years. Its next challenge will be to expand its partner network, strengthen integrations and make airport parking more accessible through established travel platforms.

By connecting local parking providers with airlines, travel agencies and consumers, ParkMundo is seeking to turn a fragmented service into a more seamless part of the global travel experience.
