Investment teams are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence to process the enormous volume of market information available to them, but Amsterdam based startup Itoflow is taking the idea a step further. Rather than giving investors another research tool, the company is building AI agents that can learn how individual investment firms make decisions and continuously apply those processes across markets.
Building AI for Investment Teams
Founded in 2026, Itoflow has raised $2.5 million in pre seed funding to develop its AI investment platform and expand its commercial operations. The round was led by Balderton Capital, with participation from angel investors including Barney Hussey Yeo, founder of Cleo.
Itoflow is developing AI agents designed specifically for professional investment teams. The platform learns how a firm researches opportunities, evaluates risk and reviews portfolios, allowing those processes to be translated into structured and governed workflows.
Instead of forcing investment firms to adopt a standard methodology, Itoflow is designed to work around the strategies and processes they already use.
Turning Investment Strategy Into Workflows
Investment teams participating in Itoflow’s current pilots can describe their investment approach, risk limits and review criteria using plain language. The platform then uses AI agents to carry out research and analysis according to those instructions.
The agents can conduct quantitative research and backtesting, monitor portfolios and identify significant changes in market or portfolio conditions. They also provide supporting evidence so investment professionals can review the information behind an alert or recommendation.
This approach is intended to allow investment teams to cover more opportunities and monitor more portfolios without having to increase the size of their quantitative research teams at the same pace.
One Platform Across Asset Classes
Itoflow is designed to support a broad range of financial assets, including equities, bonds, exchange traded funds, commodities and digital assets.
The company has built its agentic infrastructure from the ground up, with a particular focus on security and reliability. This is important because the AI agents are designed to operate continuously over extended periods while markets and investment conditions change.
Investment firms can also determine how much autonomy their agents receive. Customers can establish specific actions or thresholds that require human approval, creating a controlled relationship between automated analysis and human decision making.
Keeping Sensitive Data Under Control
For institutional customers, Itoflow can be deployed within their own infrastructure. This allows firms to retain proprietary investment strategies and sensitive financial data inside their existing environments rather than moving everything to an external system.
The company believes this infrastructure could become particularly important as professional investors increasingly explore AI systems capable of performing research and portfolio monitoring on an ongoing basis.
Toward Self Improving Investment Agents
Itoflow’s longer term ambition extends beyond simply automating existing investment workflows.
Co founder and CEO Aditya Jha said the company wants to develop self improving investment agents that can learn from their performance over months and years. Such systems could identify which approaches continue to work, discover potential new signals and recognise when an investment edge has weakened.
The objective is to create agents that continuously support investment discovery while remaining within the parameters established by each investment team.
Expanding Across Global Finance
Itoflow is currently running pilots with hedge funds and family offices around the world. It is also in discussions with exchanges, brokerages and financial data providers as it works to build a broader ecosystem around its platform.
The new funding will be used to expand Itoflow’s engineering and quantitative research teams, accelerate product development and support its commercial and regulatory activities.
With professional investors facing increasingly complex markets and growing volumes of information, Itoflow is betting that the next generation of investment technology will not simply provide better tools for analysts, but AI agents capable of continuously carrying out the research process itself.
