A New Brain for Cleaning Robots: NEURA Acquires ADLATUS

Robots are increasingly moving beyond factories and warehouses, and German robotics company NEURA Robotics is betting that the next major frontier will be machines capable of understanding the environments in which they operate. The company is expanding its Physical AI ecosystem into autonomous cleaning through the full acquisition of German robotics specialist ADLATUS Robotics.

NEURA Expands Its Robotics Ecosystem

NEURA Mobile Robots has acquired 100 per cent of the shares of ADLATUS Robotics, a company based in Ulm that develops autonomous cleaning and sweeping robots.

The acquisition adds a new application category to NEURA’s growing robotics portfolio as the company works to create a common physical AI infrastructure capable of supporting different types of robots and real world tasks.

ADLATUS has spent years developing autonomous cleaning systems for industrial facilities, logistics operations, healthcare environments, commercial properties and public spaces.

The company already has hundreds of robotic systems deployed in the market, along with its own navigation software and extensive experience in real world cleaning operations.

From Autonomous Machines to Intelligent Robots

The acquisition is intended to take ADLATUS robots beyond basic autonomous navigation.

NEURA plans to equip the cleaning systems with additional sensors and AI capabilities before gradually integrating them into its Neuraverse platform.

The goal is for the machines to understand their surroundings rather than simply follow predefined routes.

Future versions could identify different floor surfaces and types of dirt, interpret changing situations and determine which cleaning strategy is most appropriate.

The robots could also learn from real world deployments, allowing their capabilities to improve through practical experience.

This approach reflects NEURA’s broader vision of Physical AI, where robots use artificial intelligence to perceive, understand and respond to physical environments.

Building the Neuraverse

NEURA describes Neuraverse as an infrastructure that can bring together different AI models, sensor data and robotic capabilities.

Rather than developing separate intelligence systems for every individual machine, the company aims to create a platform where capabilities can be shared across different robotic applications.

The ADLATUS acquisition therefore represents more than an expansion into cleaning robots.

NEURA founder and CEO David Reger said the company was not acquiring ADLATUS simply to add another cleaning machine to its portfolio. Instead, the objective is to give specialised robots a new form of intelligence capable of understanding what they see, sense and need to accomplish.

Cleaning, Reger noted, represents a major global employment sector and could provide an important demonstration of how Physical AI can transform everyday work.

Combining Technology and Industry Expertise

The acquisition is also expected to create advantages for both companies.

ADLATUS will gain access to NEURA Robotics’ manufacturing capabilities, international sales network and broader technology platform.

At the same time, ADLATUS brings specialised knowledge of cleaning operations, established customer relationships and years of experience deploying autonomous machines in real world environments.

That combination could help NEURA accelerate the development and commercialisation of intelligent cleaning robots while giving ADLATUS access to resources for expanding its technology internationally.

Expanding Beyond Material Handling

NEURA Mobile Robots has traditionally focused heavily on autonomous mobile robotics and material handling applications.

The acquisition of ADLATUS represents a move into another major category of mobile robotics.

Andreas Lindemann, managing director of NEURA Mobile Robots, said autonomous cleaning is a logical next step as the company seeks to expand mobile robotics beyond traditional material handling.

NEURA also plans to integrate the new cleaning solutions into its Fleet Manager, potentially allowing customers to manage cleaning robots alongside other autonomous systems.

The company expects ADLATUS to become a dedicated product family within its AMR portfolio.

A Partnership That Began in 2025

The relationship between NEURA Robotics and ADLATUS predates the acquisition.

The two companies began working together through a strategic partnership in September 2025. Their first joint public appearance took place at CMS in Berlin.

The acquisition now gives NEURA full ownership of ADLATUS as it continues building a broader ecosystem of robots capable of operating across different environments.

By combining autonomous mobility, specialised cleaning expertise and a shared AI infrastructure, NEURA is positioning the ADLATUS technology as another building block in its ambition to create robots that do more than move through the world and instead understand and act within it.
