Regulate, a workplace wellness platform focused on science backed breathwork, has secured €1.4 million in Seed funding to expand its personalised performance and resilience solutions for enterprises. The round was led by impact investor 4impact.vc and supported by a prominent angel syndicate that includes Hanno Renner, Mike Wax, Marlena Hien, and Felix Haas. The investment comes at a time when companies are increasingly looking for practical solutions that can help employees manage stress, improve focus, and sustain productivity in high pressure work environments.
Founded to Bring Breathwork Into Daily Workflows
Regulate was founded in 2024 by CEO Peter van Woerkum and Paul Laechelin. Van Woerkum is a certified breathwork and executive coach with more than a decade of experience advising C level leaders, while Laechelin previously served as Product Lead for the BMW App. Together, they launched Regulate with the belief that breathwork can become one of the most accessible and effective tools for improving workplace performance and emotional resilience.
According to van Woerkum, modern professionals are under constant pressure to perform at higher levels, particularly as artificial intelligence reshapes expectations around productivity and efficiency. He believes breathwork offers a simple but scientifically validated method to help individuals regain clarity, manage stress, and build long term resilience without adding complexity to already demanding schedules.
Personalised Breathwork Powered by Data
Regulate has developed a digital platform featuring more than 60 science backed breathing sessions that range from 90 seconds to one hour. The sessions were created in partnership with scientific advisor Prof Dr Hottenrott from Martin Luther University Halle Wittenberg, who is recognised as a leading European expert in Heart Rate Variability and human recovery performance.
Unlike traditional wellness platforms that provide generic meditation or mindfulness exercises, Regulate focuses on contextual and personalised interventions. The platform is designed to recommend the right breathing session depending on a user’s immediate needs and workday demands. For example, employees may receive a focus enhancing session before an important meeting, a calming protocol after a stressful conversation, or a team breathing exercise ahead of workshops and collaborative sessions.
The company’s technology integrates with wearable devices and workday systems to analyse physiological signals and scheduling patterns. This allows the platform to deliver real time recommendations tailored to both the individual’s physical state and professional environment. Regulate describes this as creating the first breathwork platform designed specifically as an on demand workplace performance tool.
Growing Enterprise Adoption
Regulate has already seen strong traction among enterprise clients. In less than a year since launch, the platform has facilitated more than 50,000 breathing sessions across organisations. The company also revealed that its enterprise pipeline currently represents more than €9 million in annual recurring revenue potential.
The platform is already being used by teams at organisations including Raiffeisen Bank International, Vattenfall, and Personio, alongside management consultancies and global enterprises.
Hanno Renner, Co Founder and CEO of Personio, said the scientific foundation behind breathwork convinced him of Regulate’s value. He noted that breathwork has a measurable effect on performance and decision making under pressure and added that he introduced the platform at Personio because he personally saw its impact.
Expansion Plans Ahead
With the new funding, Regulate plans to accelerate its market expansion, enhance product capabilities, strengthen its live format offerings, and grow its team. Investor Victor Straatman stated that the company stands out because it combines commercial potential with measurable positive impact, helping professionals improve both performance and wellbeing in fast changing work environments.
