From Spreadsheets to Self Driving Finance: Round’s $6M Bet on Autonomous Money Ops

As finance teams grapple with increasing complexity and fragmented systems, a new generation of AI driven platforms is emerging to simplify operations and reduce manual workloads. Round is stepping into this space with fresh momentum, raising $6 million in seed funding to build a more automated and intelligent financial infrastructure for modern businesses.

Strong Investor Backing

The funding round was led by Alstin Capital, with participation from Backed VC and Love Ventures. Notably, around 10 per cent of Round’s existing customers also joined the round, signalling strong confidence from users already benefiting from the platform.

Angel investors including Paul Forster also participated, alongside existing backers such as Passion Capital and early supporters of major fintech players like Monzo, Tide, and GoCardless.

This mix of institutional and customer led investment highlights the growing demand for smarter financial operations tools.

Tackling Fragmented Finance Workflows

Despite widespread adoption of finance software, many organisations still rely on multiple disconnected systems to manage tasks such as invoice approvals, payments, and payroll. These processes often require manual coordination, increasing the risk of errors and inefficiencies.

Round addresses this challenge by combining AI intelligence with financial infrastructure. Its platform integrates directly with banks and accounting systems, allowing finance teams to define rules for approvals, payment schedules, and cash management.

Once configured, the system automates these workflows and continuously synchronises data with enterprise resource planning systems, reducing the need for manual intervention.

Launch of New AI Driven Products

Alongside the funding announcement, Round introduced two new products designed to further streamline financial operations.

The first, Agentic Workflow Builder, allows finance teams to describe workflows in natural language. The platform then translates these instructions into automated processes that run continuously in the background. This approach removes the need for complex configuration and enables teams to adapt workflows quickly.

The second product, Autonomous Payroll, simplifies the entire payroll cycle. From importing payslips and routing approvals to funding and executing payments, the system eliminates the need to manage multiple tools and processes manually.

Together, these features aim to reduce operational burden while improving accuracy and efficiency across finance functions.

Augmenting, Not Replacing Finance Teams

Round’s leadership emphasises that the platform is designed to support finance professionals rather than replace them. The focus is on automating repetitive operational tasks, allowing teams to concentrate on strategic decision making.

By removing manual bottlenecks, the company aims to enable finance teams to keep pace with the demands of modern, fast growing organisations. This aligns with a broader industry trend where AI is increasingly used to enhance productivity rather than fully automate leadership roles.

Scaling Technology and Community

The newly raised capital will be used to accelerate product development, expand engineering and go to market teams, and deepen integrations with banks and financial systems. The company also plans to scale its infrastructure to support a growing customer base.

In addition to technology development, Round is investing in community driven initiatives. These include finance focused hackathons, workshops, and webinars designed to help organisations adopt automated workflows and better understand the potential of AI in finance.

Building the Finance Stack of the Future

As businesses continue to digitise and scale, the need for efficient, integrated financial operations is becoming increasingly critical. Round’s approach reflects a shift toward intelligent systems that can handle complex workflows with minimal human input.

By combining automation, AI, and seamless integration, the company is aiming to redefine how finance teams operate, moving from manual coordination to continuous, intelligent execution.

With fresh funding and new product capabilities, Round is positioning itself as a key player in the evolution of financial operations, helping organisations transition toward a more automated and agile future.
